Philips hue app stuck downloading updates
Updates to Hue lights can take up to a few hours to download and install, it can take time due to the wireless connection that the bulbs use which is ZigBee, with the transferring of data taking some time.
The more lights you have the longer it will take. When updating you can close the app and it will run in the background, so there is no need to leave the app open. If you are having other issues then check out our common trouble shooting guide here.

This is total bull if the bulb is connected by wifi it should update by wifi not take 7 hours to update 1 bulb. If you have items that arent reachable or no longer use then delete them from the app as it is trying to contact them and see if there is a update. Would it not be faster if the app updated only one bulb at a time instead og trying to update all the bulbs at the same time using all the bandwith for that, especially if you have a lot of bulbs.
I am experiencing that some bulbs have connectivity issues while it is updating all of them, which results in a less stable system. For example if a scene activates not all of the bulbs will follow the scene as it should.
It's the Hue bridge that downloads the firmware, not the app. No auth needed for the request. Any idea what this file could be? The image type and file version match the current 1.
If it is, the file is useless without the decryption key. Notice the text property:. Yes this is a valid OTA image and encrypted but that's ok. OTA files should be encrypted since they are transferred transparently.
They don't support browsing the directory structure if the URI path even reflects one , so we might have to re-sniff the Hue bridge for every type and version. Unless there's like an index file containing links to the firmware files, like IKEA has.
Likely, maybe something like pihole in between can help to figure out more URLs. There are some tools to scan them :. FYI the gist has not the newest versions anymore. I am sure that they want be as cool as ikea :D and I am sure they want to share this information with us to get more security out there for all HUE users. That should read the Image Type and other attributes into the table row. For me the attributes only start to load if I select a firmware file.
Unfortunately we cannot help you. All Hue related stuff has been moved out of Philips to Signify. My system: rpi4 with raspbian-os Using deconz with docker from marthoc with deconz 2.
Then I start the vnc connection and enable otau-plugin:. For example update I try this LCT Select this LCT devcie and click on file:.
Then I click on update:. Sadly nothing happened here:. What is wrong on my setup? Yesterday deconz was uploading a firmware for LCT and finished but today the light had just the old fimrware :. Also, you can use these to create a spoiler tag which is very useful for large comments like yours. I'm not using Deconz myself, but from the screenshots that have been posted here, there should be an "Image" column that contains the image version you need to download.
Okay, I think my marthoc-deconz docker allready update all my HUE lights and switches. Ihink this is my only problem:. After deleting it and pairing it again, it showed up as new light with the correct firmware version. If the new firmware exposes a different profile or device id e. I did this now with one LCT and the result is that I can see the new fw:. But it seems that OTAU still showed me the old fw? How long does it take to see the model, vendor and firmware again in the node-list?
I also signed out of iTunes and tried a forced reboot and then signed in again. Nothing has worked. I've had an iPhone since and never experienced this particular problem. I know the app is able to be download from the appstore by other users because I've checked in various forums. Does anyone know why this would be happening with this one particular app and what I might be able to try to fix the problem? As I mentioned, I would just resign to using the 3rd party apps for Hue control except that I've found that the official Hue app is important to have for bridge updates among other things.
My payment info is all up to date and I've had no problems downloading other apps, though, again, this app is free, so I can't for the life of me figure out what is going on. Next article New filament lamp with E14 base makes its debut.
