There are a couple of different varieties of gaming available in Magic: The Gathering, although they are all geared toward playing the card game itself.

First, the player can simply play the card game against opponents sporting different decks. During the game, each player builds his own deck of cards representing various characters, artifacts, spells, or items that belong to one of the five available colors. The dominant element of the game are duels during which there are clashes between creatures owned by individual participants of the game.

It is also worth noting that the use of each card requires the use of so-called mana points, and their parameters can be modified with the spells or artifacts available in the deck. The game is won by the player who defeats all his opponents and deprives them of their energy points.

Magic The Gathering is a very faithful adaptation of its analog prototype and introduces all character cards, artifacts or spells known in it. A curiosity is the numerous additions that expand the deck of cards available during the game in the basic version. It is often referred to as Shandalar after the plane of Shandalar, where the game takes place. The player must travel the land and fight random enemies to gain cards, and defeat five wizards representing the five colors.
